Why do people with black and/or brown skin, have white/pink-ish palms?
I'm not racist at all, I'm just curious about it. Especially since I have a brown boyfriend and a black friend as well. I have white skin and everything looks the same all around but I noticed my boyfriend's palms of his hands and feet are white/pink. Same with my black friend. I'm just wondering, why do black and brown people have a different color on their palms of their hands AND feet?
There is less pigment in these areas of skin, plus the skin is a lot thicker here and harder to tan because the melanin is in the deeper layers of the skin. It is possible for that skin to tan eventually with a lot of sun exposure.
